Both routes require the employer to pay a $1,000 processing fee per position and to submit a Labour Market Benefits Plan, a set of commitments to benefit Canadian workers (Category A must commit to job creation, Category B to skills and training investment), plus at least two complementary benefits. How the two week work permit works

The speed you have heard about comes from two separate promises. First, ESDC aims to process GTS LMIA applications within 10 business days, 80% of the time. Second, once you have that positive LMIA, IRCC aims to process your work permit within two weeks through the Global Skills Strategy.

To keep the two week work permit goal, you must:

1. Apply online from outside Canada. Global Talent Stream applications made inside Canada do not get the two week track (a narrow inside-Canada exception exists only for certain doctors and healthcare workers).

2. Submit a complete application, including any required medical exam and visa office documents.

3. Give your biometrics within two weeks of being asked, if you need them.

Your spouse or common law partner and dependent children can share the two week processing only if they apply at the same time and their applications are complete. Note the two weeks is a service goal, not a guarantee, and your own open work permit does not qualify for it.
